OpenAI shuts down Sora video app, ending Disney's $1 billion deal

OpenAI has announced the shutdown of its AI video generation app Sora, launched in late 2024, just 15 months after debut. This move also cancels the $1 billion licensing partnership with Disney, which had licensed over 200 characters for Sora and planned a major equity investment.
